Why is that ALMOST every time someone finds out I ride a motorcycle, the first question is: "What kind? is it a Harley?" NO! and out of respect for my Hardly er, I mean Harley-riding friends, that's all I'll say about that ;-)
My bike is a 2007 Yamaha FJR. It's 'black cherry' in the States; 'dark red' in Canada. It was love at first sight and there was a time when I washed it or dusted it off after every ride. John's Justified crew were witness to this one Wednesday afternoon and teasingly asked me if I was going to do that when the bike was a year old. I indignantly assured them that "Yes, I definitely will". Thankfully, I dropped the Feej - a couple of times -last summer so the pressure to clean her compulsively is now off . She bears battle scars that no amount of washing will cover up. I've told myself that if she survives THIS summer unscathed, I may have bodywork done. But that's months and many kms down the road!
Jim is a sport bike aficionado. He currently runs 2 Ducatis and a BMW. The first Duc came from California when Jim was working on a project out there and saw this bike for sale. He flew home, took vacation leave to fly back and he rode the bike from California in 5 days. The steed of choice for touring is the 1985 BMW K100. Jim's has 188 000 kms on it and it runs beautifully. In its day, the Beemer was a beautiful candy-apple red. These days, she has a lovely patina of gradient reddish orange:-) No fairing, no windscreen. Jim's a Vintage Rider !
